Ready, Set, Go!
For children in Kindergarten and 1st grade
READY, SET, GO! is based on the Kodaly philosophy of teaching music, a developmental approach in which children learn musical concepts and elements in a step-by-step sequence. Kodaly believed that music is important for the development of the whole personality, encouraging teachers to foster not only musical skills, but also social skills, emotional security, intellectual skills (such as memory, imagination, and reasoning), physical skills, and aesthetic awareness. Folk songs and games form the core of the curriculum allowing the children to learn the music of our American culture and gain the foundation needed to progress into private lessons or choirs. This class is taught by UMHB Music Education Majors under the direct supervision of Ms. Deborah Jones. (12 weeks)
