GENERAL MUSIC CLASS for HOMESCHOOL STUDENTS
A General Music Class for 4th through 8th grade Homeschool students.
Tuesdays - 1:00 to 2:00 p.m.
Sylvia White - Instructor
Every child deserves the opportunity to explore music and experience its benefits. The study of music is a vital part of a well rounded education. Through individual and group activites, music develops creativity, problem solving, critical and evaluative skills. Current research indicates that exposure to the fine arts, especially music, influence the brain and actually stimulates spatial intelligence. Students who participate in an arts program experience important learning transfers in all academic areas.
Working with the elements of music: tempo, rhythm, pitch, texture, dynamics, form, style and tone color, students will have hands on experiences with the recorder, handbells, Orff instruments, and a variety of classroom instruments. Units of study will include patriotic music, famous composers, music styles, and instruments of the orchestra.
