HIGH SCHOOL MIXED ENSEMBLE
Young Women and Men - Age 14-19
Monday - 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Nancy Bales - Director
Nancy Bales is a graduate of Temple College and Southwestern University with a BM, magna cum laude, and has been teaching music for over 41 years. She was the voice coach/staff accompanist for Temple College for 10 years. She has performed all over Texas with the Artists-in-the-Schools program, has been a featured piano concerto artist with the Temple Symphony, and has been the rehearsal accompanist for the TCDA Honor Choir. Mrs. Bales has judged vocal competitions throughout the United States and for the Texas All-Sate Choir process. Most recently, she was the voice coach/staff accompanist at Temple High School where she was able to pursue her life-long passion of working with high school students. Currently, she has developed a private voice and piano studio, teaches for the UMHB Conservatory of Music, is an applied piano instructor for the UMHB Music Department, and is the youth choir director/pianist at First United Methodist Church in Temple. She loves cooking, hiking, and spending time with her husband, two dogs, and three boys.
Fourteen-year-old students will only be considered if they have spent at least one semester in a Concert Choir or with permission from the director. Once a student has contacted the Conservatory Office. Mrs. Bales will set up an interview.
